Quillcayhuanca - Cojup:
Easy to reach from Huaraz, short and impressive.
One of the few treks easily done in 3 days and nevertheless leaves a perfect impression
of the high mountain range Cordillera Blanca. You can stay an optional night before and after
in a marvellous high mountain lodge (Best showers and matresses in the region).
We especially recommend the 1st night at the lodge for people who are apt to acclimatize slowly
or don't wonna leave out the additional hike up to Lake Churup (wellworth it!).
We organise the Ishinca-ascend (5.530 m) from the Cojup Valley as well. Ideal to experience
the first time ice-climbing!
Duration: 3 days (up to 5 days)
Highest altitude: 4.950 m (Choco Pass, not quite as sweet as Nutella)
Difficulty: easy
Description:
Day 1: Pick up from your hotel in Huaraz and transfer to Llupa, start of the trek.
After about 6 hours we reach the end of the Quillcayhuanca Valley where we stay overnight.
Day 2: About 6 hours to pass the Choco Pass at 4950 m to our campsite at the bottom of
the Cojup Valley.
Day 3: Another 6 hours back to Llupa. Transfer from Llupa to Huaraz.
Our tours are like the ones you would book back home in one of the fancy travel agents.
Our staff is selected not only because of their qualifications but also because of their social skills. You are spending a lot of time together and nothing is worse than a nasty guide or constantly begging donkey driver.
It must be mentioned though, that many local providers do not respect working conditions and exploit their staff and so generate malbehaviour. Needless to say that that doesn't happen with us.
